4 Day Bwindi Gorilla and Lake Mburo Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Depart from Kampala by road and head south-West to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will stop shortly at the Equator for an educative talk as well as taking photos and Mbarara for lunch. You will go through Uganda’s rolling green hills through the Kigezi highlands, also known as the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’ and capture great views of the legendary “Mountains of the Moon”.

Bwindi together with Virunga volcanoes of Rwanda and the Congo are habitats to the only remaining endangered mountain gorillas. We then drop down into a valley, to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorilla. Tonight enjoy your meals and accommodation at Buhoma Community Bandas, Silver back Lodge / Mahogany springs lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi impenetrable National park
silverback-gorilla-bwindi-forestWake up early for briefing about how to behave while with Gorillas. The guide will brief you and thereafter, you will hit the montane forest for an encounter with the mountain gorillas. Watch out for their voices and listen to them grumble and the young as they swing from tree to tree, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas.

If you have the energy this afternoon, take a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail, which entails crystal clear waterfalls, a variety of flora, butterfly species and an array of birds. This is a haven for primatologists and ornithologists. The other option is taking a guided community walk among the Batwa inhabitants of the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Mburo national Park
Breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo national Park, known as the haven for “impalas” small antelopes and herbivorous are most concentrated in Lake Mburo of all the Ugandan national Parks. There is more to impalas, Kampala; the capital city of Uganda was named after this beautiful animal.

Check out the lovely Kigezi highlands and other wild scenery on your way. When you reach the park, do a game drive and check out Uganda’s wildlife besides the mountain gorillas in Bwindi such as zebra, warthog, buffalo, klipspringer, eland, oribi and waterbuck. Enjoy your dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Mihingo lodge / lake mburo safari lodge or Arcadia cottages.

Day 4: Boat trip on Lake Mburo
Breakfast and proceed for a morning boat trip on Lake Mburo where you will admire the view of several other lakes like Kazuma, Lake Bwa and so on. Gaze at the huge hippos, crocodiles and buffaloes as they drink water. There are attractive birds to check out like Abyssinian ground hornbill, the crested crane (Uganda’s national emblem), saddle bill storks among others. You will stopover in Mbarara for en route lunch, proceed to Kampala or Entebbe international Airport for your flight back home.
