Day 3: Gorilla Tracking Adventure and Nature walk
Wake up early for a cup of tea / coffee and assemble to the park headquarters for registration and briefing about gorilla watching in Rwanda. Group allocation follows and then proceed to the trekking start point. Gorilla watching is a life time experience, goes through thick and slippery jungle grounds in the Bamboo forests. Time takes ranges between 2-8 hours depending on their movements. The thrilling encounter with a gorilla family with their leaders (Silverback gorillas) is worth the effort. Sight and stay with gorillas is one hour for observation and photographing.
Retire for late lunch at the lodge; time permitting, take an evening nature walk to the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo as well as the Virunga mountains, or cultural tour to nearby Rwanda cultural Villages, or Musanze caves exploration. Dinner and over night.
Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking / Hike to Dian Fossey Grave Yard, Departure
Today we go for golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes national park, or hike to Dian Fossey Grave yard, at the former Karisoke Research Center. This is where the late Dian Fossey spent close to 20 years studying about and habituating Mountain Gorillas. This hike is so spectacular, goes through thick bamboo forest and afro-montane habitats, with criss-crossed trails and tracks of forest buffalo and elephant! Expect an encounter with all sorts of wildlife as you make our way up and down to Karisoke, nestled between the beautiful volcanic peaks of Karismbi and Visoke.
Later after lunch, cross the boarder to Uganda through Kisoro (the Switzerland of Africa), overnight at Gorillas safari Lodge / Kisoro Travelers Rest Hotel / Chameleon Hill Lodge, Nkuringo Gorilla Camp, Nshongi Gorilla Resort.
