18 Days African Wildlife Safari, Uganda Rwanda Tour
The 18 days Uganda – Rwanda tour will make you experience the true African wildness. Expect to have big game drive as you spot for some of the Big 5; African lion, Elephant, Buffalo, and Leopard. Take Boat trips to explore more of the prolific bird life and animals, primates trekking, Gorilla tracking in Uganda and Rwanda, Cultural walks, Forest walks, excellent bird watching, Mountain hikes, and photography among others. You will also have city tours in Kigali (Rwanda) and Kampala (Uganda). The safari starts and ends at Entebbe Airport in Uganda.
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, your Tour Guide / driver will be waiting for you. He will transfer you to Kampala Serena hotel/ Kampala Forest Cottages / Cassia Lodge Buziga for dinner and over night.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Early breakfast and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Enroute visit to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking, lunch in Masindi Town. We shall take a short excursion to the top of the falls where the Nile perfects its beauty! Check in Paraa Safari Lodge / Murchison River Lodge/ Red Chili rest camp/ Nile safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning game drive and Boat cruise in Murchison Falls N.P
Today, we shall explore the best of Murchison Falls National Park. After a cup of tea / coffee in the morning, we shall embark on a game drive in the park that will reward you with animals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, African lions, Uganda kobs, Oribis and waterbucks and many more.
Return to the lodge for full breakfast as we wait for lunch. After lunch, proceed for an afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. Expect to see many huge crocodiles and hippos basking along the shores, herds of buffaloes and Elephants having a drink on the river, and over 350 bird species on the river banks like kingfisher, cormorants, bee-eater, and the rare shoe bill stork among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as on day two.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Early breakfast is followed by the transfer to Kibale forest while enjoying the scenic beauty of the Western arm of the rift valley and the Butiaba escarpments, lunch en route in Fort portal town and proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Check-in Ndali lodge/Kyaninga lodge / Mountains of the moon Hotel/Chimpanzee Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Wild Chimpanzee Tracking and Bird watching
After early morning breakfast, go search for chimpanzees in the Kibale forest. This will enable you see other primates like the colobus monkeys, Mangabeys, baboons, Red tailed monkeys, the L’Hoest’s monkeys, Bush-babies among others. You will move with a guide who will make your walk informative and productive hence interesting. The Guide will provide information on both flora and fauna. Thereafter, return for lunch and in the afternoon; go for a nature walk to Bigodi sanctuary for plenty of birds and rare fauna and flora. Return for dinner and overnight at Ngali Lodge / Kyaninga Lodge / Kibale safari lodge / Primate Lodge Kibale / Kibale Forest Camp / Chimpanzee guest house / Chimps Nest lodge, ect
Day 6: Cultural Excursion in Pygmy Villages
Today, we shall visit the pygmies in the pygmy villages located near the Ituri Rainforest. We shall start our 2-4hours drive early with packed lunch. The visit to the villages has proven to be an appealing cultural experience. You take a tour to the Hot Springs from where you will visit the Pygmies. Thereafter, return to Fort portal for dinner and overnight at Hotel (Mountains of the moon hotel, Kyaninga lodge, Rwenzori View Guest House)
Day 7: Toro Cultural safari – Connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast and take a short excursion to Karambi Royal tombs including many cultural groups such as the Burungu community which is rooted in Traditional Toro culture that will entertain you with music, dancing and story telling. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with game viewing en route, dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Enganzi Lodge/Bush Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge / Katara Lodge or Mweya Hostels.
Day 8: Morning game Drive and Boat cruise
Warm your self with a cup of tea/coffee, go for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queens mile in the park to encounter animals like Lions, Elephants, buffaloes, Warthogs, leopard, hyena, mongoose, water bucks, Uganda kobs, Topi and lots many small animals and birds.
Return to the lodge for full breakfast, relax as we wait for lunch, after which we shall enjoy the unique afternoon 2-hour launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. Expect to encounter Hippos, Nile crocodiles and many animals who come to quench their thirsity at the water’s edge. This boat cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and wildgame viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 611 resident species. Return for dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Enganzi Lodge/Bush Lodge/Kyambura Game Lodge / Katara Lodge or Mweya Hostels.
Day 9: Ishasha sector to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Early morning after breakfast, depart for Bwindi, through the Ishasha Plain located in the southern part of the park; here expect to see the famous tree climbing lions as they rest up in the large forest trees, reach Bwindi Forest by late afternoon, dinner and overnight at Mahogany Springs Lodge/ Gorilla Mist camp/ Wagtail Eco Safari Camp / Bakiga Lodge / Chameleon Hill Lodge / Nkuringo Gorilla camp / Gift of Nature lodge / Bwindi safari lodge.
Day 10: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest
Breakfast; proceed to park offices with packed lunch for a briefing about the Dos and Don’ts while with gorillas. Time taken while searching for the mountain gorillas is unpredictable however; it may take 2-7 hours depending on their movements.
A maximum of one hour is always given to you stay with these Giant apes for observation and photography. If the evening is free, we can take a cultural walk to nearby Batwa communities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as on day nine.
Day 11: Cross to Rwanda – Parc National Des Volcans (home of mountain gorillas)
After breakfast, transfer to Rwanda through Cyanika boarder for another gorilla trekking experience. Crossing Rwanda border requires $30 visa fee (for those who require Visa), arrive at Volcanoes National park, dinner and overnight at Mountain gorilla view lodge, Virunga lodge, Sabyinyo Silverback lodge / Gorillas Nest Lodge / Le Bambou Gorilla lodge/ Muhabura Hotel. Relax at the lodge as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Rwanda Gorilla tracking Experience
Breakfast and then proceed to Kinigi park station for a briefing about Gorilla tracking experience, then continue for the trek with packed lunch, water, tracking gears among others. Return for dinner and overnight at the lodge at your previous lodge.
Day 13: Golden Monkey tracking and Kigali for the city tour
After breakfast, proceed for Golden Monkey tracking and later after lunch, connect to Kigali for a city tour with visits to the Genocide memorial site, cultural museum, curio markets and the Kimironko fruits markets where you have a chance to meet the local people and choose your fruit basket. For dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel/ Manor Hotel/ Chez Lando Hotel / Urban Boutique or Hotel Des Mille Colline.
Day 14: Kigali – Lake Bunyonyi (Uganda)
Breakfast is followed by the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in south western Uganda through Katuna boarder. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Cottages/ Bird Nest Resort / Bunyonyi Overland resort / Bunyonyi Luxury Resort
Day 15: Lake Bunyonyi Excursion – Boat Ride
Breakfast will be followed by a nature walk in the morning and after lunch you will go for a boat ride to one of the neighboring islands. Relax in the evening at the lodge with beautiful view of the lake, dinner and overnight.
Day 16: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Thereafter, proceed for an afternoon boat ride on Mburo Lake, an excellent place for birding. You will also encounter animals like Hippos and crocodiles. Have dinner and overnight at Mihingo Safari lodge/ Arcadia Cottages/ Mantana Tented Camp or Lake Mburo safari lodge.
Day 17: Morning game Viewing – Transfer to Kampala
Warm your self with a cup of tea/ coffee, embark on a morning game drive to catch up with early raisers and predators returning to their hideouts. Retire for late breakfast and thereafter, drive to Kampala with game viewing en route, stop at the Equator for photography, proceed to Kampala reaching by late afternoon. Have dinner and overnight at your accommodation as on day one.
Day 18: Departure
Depending on the flight schedule, you can take a city tour in Kampala- visit Kasubi Tombs, Bahai Temp, or Nakasero fruit market before connecting to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
